Interoperability Is Aim of Microsoft Business Process Alliance
Interview with Ben Cody, vice president of product management and Microsoft liaison at Global 360, a provider of business process management solutions.
Question: Let’s start with the big picture. What are the major trends you see in business process management? Cody: The biggest one that we see right now is that BPM is becoming a very mainstream technology these days. I’ll give you a couple of proof points. First, there’s a recent Gartner survey that indicates the market just for BPM suites grew last year from $730 million to $903 million. If you load in all the other enabling technologies, it grew from $1.4 billion to $1.6 billion, so they’re projecting out a blended CAGR [compound annual growth rate] of 21 percent with a CAGR for the BPM suites specifically of 23 percent. We’re going to talk about Microsoft later in this interview, I believe, and that’s just another data point. Bigger companies are moving into this space. BPM is rapidly maturing and becoming accepted as a valuable technology for businesses.

Within each activity, visibility is extended so that analysts and managers may understand how much time people spend performing work versus waiting on work.
